What is the Scariest…

Book you’ve ever read?

Thing that has ever happened to you?

Event you’ve witnessed?

Give it to me, all you (3) followers!

I’ll give it to you. The scariest movie I ever saw was The Changeling with George C. Scott. He gives the best portrayal of low-grade jangled nerves — layered over unsettled guilt and grief — that I’ve ever seen onscreen.

  1. I remember being very uptight watching “Alien” the first time. The scene at the beginning where they are exploring the alien planet, and then when “it” comes out of the crewman’s stomach.

Book: I might agree with Paul Theroux and say, “The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket”.

Scariest thing I’ve seen: planes crashing into the World Trade Centre

To me personally: narrowly missing being T-boned by a car travelling 60 mph. And I mean narrowly.

  2. New follower, Kate. The scariest movie I saw was Halloween. I saw it in the theatre in Kingston when it came out. There were three teenaged girls sitting directly behind me and they screamed their lungs out every time something happened on screen. Now THAT kept scaring the hell out of me!!

  3. I love it! Very jarring stuff. Alien terrified me, Halloween as well. It was my parents’ great mistake to take me to see The Changeling in the theatre at age 8. I could not sleep in my own room for a month.

Tell me what you think...
